Could WWII American infantry kill a T-Rex or similar type dinosaur?

I was watching Godzilla and an American infantry unit fought Godzilla before it was a radioactive monster, first at long range then at short range with a lot of naval support, looked like destroyers and/or battleships and the Americans lost. The Americans appeared to have M1 or Browning guns. So I wonder: Could a typical WWII American infantry unit, with naval support, kill a T-Rex or similar dinosaur?
