Which is the best area to stay in at Bangkok? ?

i am going with kids to bangkok and want to know what is the best and most central and convenient location to stay in bangkok. Any recommendations for good hotels there between 4000-6000 Thai baht per night per room? Any apartments available? Priced at? thnx
